Baronetage

" never took up any book but the Baronetage..." (Austen, 9).

A baronetage is defined as "the whole body of baronets". Austen is referring to a book which tells the history of the nobles who had preceded Sir Walter Elliot. Austen is already referring to her characters life style within the first paragraph of her novel, hinting that class(and money) is an important theme of her book.

  1. Molly, overall these entries feel about 1/4 or 1/2 way there -- how can you get more specific in each about that moment's importance to the text overall? we should also have a conversation about theme and motif to help clarify the ways in which to discuss such specifically in analysis -- finally, go through carefully for spelling mistakes and grammar errors -- quite a few
